This monumental masonry lighthouse stands near Cape Guardafui, where the Gulf of Aden meets the Indian Ocean. The surviving tower was completed in 1930, replacing a metal lighthouse inaugurated in 1924; it is a colonial-era maritime landmark rather than an ancient structure.
